Nestor Plasencia Sr. is the fourth-generation patriarch of Plasencia Cigars. The family started growing tobacco in Cuba in 1865. After farms were taken in the 1960s they rebuilt in Nicaragua, were forced out again in 1978, and restarted in Honduras. Nestor entered manufacturing in the mid-1980s. The family returned to Nicaragua in 1990 and now farms and rolls in both countries at a scale few independents match.
For decades they were famous as growers and contract manufacturers, not as a consumer marca. That changed in the mid-2010s when sons including Nestor Andrés launched Alma Fuerte, Cosecha, and related lines. Factories include Plasencia Estelí ("The Cathedral") and El Paraíso. Long-term clients include Rocky Patel Premium Cigars and founder Rocky Patel. STG / General holds a minority stake. The farms and Alma catalog remain family-run. Nestor is the grower-manufacturer, not an STG brand manager.
